On my way to Batuu!

So, if you're a Star Wars/Disney nerd like I am, you've been keeping very close track of Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland. I'm counting the days until my next trip, when my best friends and I are going to descend on the park as highly-caffeinated nerds.

As we prepare for our trip, and because I'm so excited, I'm looking for good resources out there to make our trip more fun. I want to know all the geeky little Easter eggs I can find.

13 tips for a better trip to Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

I have to say, the attention to detail looks downright insane. I've always been highly impressed with Disney's ability to create such realistic worlds, but Black Spire outpost looks like whole new levels of amazing.

Take a look at these.

Fellow Star Wars nerds are feeding the flames by filming whatever they can in the park. I'm watching a lot of it, but I'm ignoring clips of the custom lightsabers you can buy. I want to live that experience for myself next January.

As Todd Martens of the L.A. Times says, "Galaxy's Edge, the largest expansion in Disneyland themed to a single franchise, was built for a reported $1 billion, but its Black Spire Outpost is modeled to feel ancient, handmade and a bit quirky. Think of it less as a romanticized theme park world and more as a tine seaside town one visits for the weekend simply to wander and shop among the locals. At one point, I started feeling I wasn't in Disneyland but an alien-infested Solvang and wanted to bring home something small and artisan. So yes, I bought the wooden Jawas ($25). And, OK, a loth cat, which purrs when you pet it ($44.99)."

I love that they've minimized the Disney on Batuu. The usual t-shirts and merchandise like that is actually found outside of Black Spire itself to help preserve the feel of being on the planet. They've even created an alphabet that's used around the 14-acre land. The costumes are mix-and-match for the cast members, so they can make them their own.
