An Exciting New Chapter

I created my first podcast episode for an assignment for my New Media class for grad school. I had no idea I would get such a great response to it and have great demand for more episodes.

Since then, I've made seven more episodes and my friend Sarah has been promoting them on her Geek Parenting Podcast. She says they're some of her most-popular episodes. So, I've bought myself a decent mic and pop shield, so I can be more legit and sound a little better.

I started using a USB headset mic that was what I had, but probably not the best tool. I also edited the first couple of episodes using film editing software, because it's what I was familiar with. Since then, I've gotten used to using Adobe Audition for editing. Note to self: before you graduate, buy a subscription to Creative Cloud. Student discounts are awesome! I've also watched some tutorials, so I can make my audio sound a little sweeter.

I picked Disney for my topic because it's something I know about and love, and can talk about for ages. I also know there's a great market for all-things Disney, particularly with the opening of Galaxy's Edge this year and Marvel Land in the near-future.

Now, I have a notebook of episodes waiting to be made. I'm thinking of doing one during my next trip to Disneyland that's me and my nerdy friends standing in line. It'll just be whatever comes out of our mouths, so it could be great or it could be boring. I'll edit it, of course. I definitely want to catch us going into Galaxy's Edge for the first time, and standing in line for Smuggler's Run the first time.

Who knew this was going to turn into a fun new hobby?

I plan on making a ton of these things, so stay tuned. Have any ideas for episodes? Please, let me know!
